Two CCM music students are bringing to life a song that hasn't been publicly performed in decades, as part of a documentary celebrating the bicentennial of Covington, Kentucky.
Katherine Krueger, an opera singer with her master's in music (CCM 2012) and Liz Remizowski, a doctoral Piano student, performed the "Ode to Covington," a song written for the Centennial celebration of the city in Northern Kentucky. It was composed by Louis E. Levassor, with words by Frank A. Crippen, for a musical pageant called "Covingtona." It was performed every night of the week-long centennial celebration in September of 1914 at the Lyric, now known as The Madison Theater.
Points of View: Covington, premiered on February 8th, 2015; and subsequently will air on Kentucky Public Television, KET this coming March.
I am now a member of the Great Lakes Region of The National Association of Teachers of Singing.
I am very proud of all that my students have accomplished this year. Congratulations to Anna, Claire, Maegan and Jordan for a very successful performance of Disney's "High School Musical" at Glen Este High.
Congratulations to Tyler for being accepted in Glen Este High's advanced choir By Request.
